Fall or even Halloween Cake!

Fall is here and it is time to bring out the pumpkins!
Today I just would like to share an idea to make a cake that will be the eye-catcher of any party or simply just for your own family to enjoy. And the best part of it is - you don't have to be an extraordinary baker to do this!!

You don't have to make a cake from scratch in order to have a great cake. So for this one just get:

1pkg. cake mix, any flavor you desire
1-2pkg. (8oz) Philadelphia Cream Cheese
1/4 cup (1/2 stick) unsalted butter, softened
if you want sweet icing then you need 4 cups of powered sugar ( otherwise 2cups would be enough, or simple try the mix to make sure you like it)
Green, red and yellow food coloring
1 Comet cup

  1. Prepare cake batter and bake in 12-cup fluted tube pan as directed on the package. Cool in pan for approximately 10min. Invert the cake onto the wire rack - remove pan- let cake cool completely.
  2. Beat cream cheese and butter in a medium bowl until blended. Then gradually add sugar - beat until well blended after each addition. Remove half cup of the frosting and place into a bowl. Add green food coloring; stir until well blended. Spread half of the green frosting onto the outside of the ice cream cup and set aside. Cover and reserve the remaining frosting for later use.
  3. Add red and yellow food colorings to the remaining white frosting to tint it orange. Spread onto the cake (top to bottom) to resemble the pumpkin. Invert the ice cream cup in hole in the top of the cake for the pumpkin's stem. Pipe the reserved green frosting in vertical lines down side of the cake.
  4. If you want to make a Jack-O'-Lantern cake - simple place black gumdrops on a sheet of waxed paper sprinkled with additional granulated sugar. Use a rolling pin to flatten each gumdrop - turn them frequently to coat both sides with sugar. Cut into desired shapes with a sharp knife. Use to decorate the frosted cake!
Let me know how your cake turned out!!
